Julien :: Tarte Abricots et Pistaches

Phenomenal! While the appearance is humble, the flavors are outstanding. Deliciously sweetened apricots strewn about a base of creamed pistachios that come off as a slightly less sweet version of marzipan. It’s all cradled by a base of tarte dough that’s smooth and buttery.

There’s not much more to say. It’s simple and incredibly tasty. So just enjoy the photos and hope that you one day get a slice of your own.

What’s strange though is that Boulangerie Julien is itself fairly humble and tucked away at the not-so-posh end of the intensely upscale Rue St. Honoré. But quality is quality. Next time I visit them, I’ll be sure to pick up two or three pastries. If this tarte was any indication, I’m sure to enjoy, if not be thrilled by, everything else in the shop.

I also just loved the way they wrapped up the tarte slice. No frills – just tasty pastries and a friendly staff.
